International Child and Youth Care Week - Making moments meaningful

4 - 10 May 2020

FICE South Africa (NACCW), is celebrating the International Child and Youth Care Week. This year the CYC week celebration is from the 4th – 10th May. The theme for this year is “Making moments meaningful”, this translates how we interact with children, youth and families. The week coincide with the time when the world is faced with a huge challenge of COVID-19. The connection with the beneficiaries is being re-defined as many of us have moved into virtual connection where we continue to render essential services.

Children and youth will be sharing their stories and videos which will be pasted on the CYC-net Website and Facebook. We will share stories, video clips, poems and pictures of meaningful moments in CYC work during this special time, and we will share them with everyone and together we will experience our family of Belonging.

"Each day during the International CYC Week we will take one of the bubbles shown on this poster and open it up more fully. In doing so, we would like to include your comments, video clips, photos, stories, short articles, quotes, links, and anything else you would like to send about the activities in this poster. Some of the quotes might be included in the poster later on.

Each of the bubbles represents an activity (theme) of CYC practice. The seven bubbles we will open up are the ones which show the two people kicking the ball (play), the one showing help with education (supporting success), the one about cooking (everyday routines), the one with the two people playing chess (engagement), the one about hand washing (appropriate hygiene and safety), the one showing social media connections (connections), and the hug (nurturing).

While we will include as many responses as possible, not everyone's submissions can be included in the poster, of course.

We ask that you post all contributionson the NACCW Facebook page or alternatively email to CYCweek2020@naccw.org.za So, send us your stories, video clips, pictures of meaningful moments in this special time. We will share them here with everyone and together we will experience our family of Belonging"
