Opening Doors for Europe’s Children campaign

The Opening Doors for Europe’s Children campaign (OD Campaign) is a joint effort of well recognized and influential international stakeholders, active in the field of protection of children and their rights.

The vision of the OD Campaign is strengthening families and ending institutional care across Europe. The Campaign wants to achieve this by promoting the transition from institutional to family – based care (also called Deinstitutionalization – DI), as well as by improving the quality of life of children and young people in, at risk of entering, or leaving institutional care.

The OD Campaign was launched at the European Parliament in Brussels in June 2013. Upon completing its first phase (2013-2015) with a reputation of the well-known and respected force for change, the Opening Doors Campaign entered in its second three-year phase in 2016. The OD Phase II will be coordinated by the international partnership composed of 5 highly experienced and credible international actors: Eurochild, Hope & Homes for Children, FICE Europe, International Foster Care Organization (IFCO) and SOS Children’s Villages International. The partnership will work in cooperation with national partners from more than 15 European countries, for achieving the Campaign’s most effective impact and results.

The kick – off meeting of the OD Phase II Campaign was held in Brussels on March 2 – 3, with the participation of all the partners’ representatives, including FICE Europe, FICE Austria and FICE Spain.
