FICE Romania's National Conference on the Prevention of child abuse and violence reflected in the public policies design (November 18, 2022, Bucharest, Romania)

The International Federation of Educational Communities (FICE) Romania organized, on November 18, 2022, at the Palace of Parliament ("Dimitrie Cantemir" Hall), the National Conference on the topic of Prevention of child abuse and violence reflected in the public policies design, an event that concluded the Campaign 19 days of prevention of abuse and violence against children and young people, initiated by the World Women's Summit Foundation (Geneva) and promoted, annually, by FICE Romania at the national level. The partners were the Association of Communes in Romania, the National Authority for the Protection of Children's Rights and Adoption (ANPDCA), Radio Romania, the Romanian Broadcasting Society, the Association of Directors of the General Directorates of Social Assistance and the "Tribune of Education" review.


The hosts of the Conference were Prof. Toma Mareș, president of FICE Romania, and Prof. Gabriela Crețu (senator, vice-president of FICE Romania), and moderators were Prof. univ. dr. Ioan Neacșu and deputy Simona Bucura Oprescu. A distinguished guest was Mrs. Gabriela Firea, Minister of the Ministry of Family, Youth and Equal Opportunities, to whom were added other political personalities (parliamentarians, senators, deputies, mayors), teachers, employees of the DGASPCs from Argeș, Ialomița, Iași, Neamț and Vaslui counties, representatives of the Anti-Drug National Agency, the Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations for Children, ANPDCA, the National Authority for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Romanian Institute for Human Rights.


The main objective of the meeting was to bring to the fore the concrete ways in which various institutions, governmental and non-governmental, can collaborate to reduce (if not completely eradicate) the phenomenon of violence against children and through which they can influence, working together, the design of public policies favorable to the creation of a protective social environment for children. After approximately three hours of debate, the participants expressed their wish that, annually, to have meetings dedicated to ascertaining, analyzing and disseminating the concrete results obtained, the time horizon appointed, the year 2030, being considered an ambitious milestone on the path leading to the reduction/eradication of the violence against children and young people. Alongside the ideas expressed during the National Conference organized by FICE Romania, was discussed the necessity of a Resolution regarding the specialization of social workers who manage the cases of adolescents with behavioral disorders.
